Laura Sorensen, introduced herself as fair board chair and presented a set of six new rules for fair superintendents at the Okanogan County meeting.
Sorensen said the rules require superintendent attendance at training, institute two training classes (including a show‑works session), require only superintendents to sign final show paperwork, keep exhibit buildings open until 10 p.m., return all ribbons and tubs to Jones Hall for inventory, and limit sale items in the animals and fowl sale area to animals and fowl only.
County staff and Sorensen agreed the new supervisor sign‑off would be added to the fairbook and that superintendents should sign a separate acknowledgment so they cannot later say they did not see the rules. Sorensen said the new rules are listed in red in the draft she provided.
When asked whether these items required a formal vote, the board discussed that adding the signature requirement and the rules could be handled as an amendment and that it might require a resolution or action at a policy meeting. Staff said the change would likely flow through the fairbook update process.
No formal county action to adopt the rules was recorded at the meeting; staff said they would follow up to determine whether a resolution was needed and how to handle signatures from superintendents and BLCC sign‑off.
