Board to Move Forward With Advisory Committee Appointment and Reappointment

The Board of County Commissioners said Monday it will forward an appointment and a reappointment for routine approval at an upcoming meeting: Michelle Olsen to the Revenue Advisory Committee and Thomas Swanson for reappointment to the Board of Equalization.
Staff said Michelle Olsen has been attending revenue advisory committee meetings and was selected by the school board as its next superintendent. Commissioners said her participation has been productive and that moving her appointment forward will formalize her role on the committee.
On the Board of Equalization, staff recommended reappointing Thomas Swanson. The presenters noted a second applicant had applied and commissioners discussed the potential to name an alternate member; staff said an alternate is available. Commissioners described Swanson's background, including prior appraisal-related work and relevant academic credentials, and said they would proceed with the reappointment.
The board indicated it will place both items on the agenda for final approval at the next meeting and did not record a formal roll-call tally during the May 5 discussion.
