Committee set to host workforce housing summit; regional forum and task-force meetings announced

Committee members used the meeting to announce several upcoming public events and task-force meetings focused on housing and economic development.
Committee staff reminded members that the Attainable Workforce Housing Summit is scheduled for May 8 at Converge Gym from 2 to 4 p.m.; the summit will include two panels (planners and builders) and focus on workforce housing and the county's 80/20 workforce housing discussion. "It will consist of two panels. It will be, the planners panel, but about what they're looking at now," a committee member said while listing expected panelists including builders and Commerce staff.
Committee staff and partners also announced a regional forum titled "Beyond Recompetes: Shaping Our Regional Future" on June 4 at Peninsula College's Little Theatre from 1 to 4 p.m., hosted by Peninsula College and the North Olympic Peninsula EDCs. The homelessness task force will present the draft five-year homeless housing plan at a meeting on Tuesday, June 6. A public home-sharing meeting is set for June 3 at the library's Carver Room from 6 to 7 p.m.
The events are open to the public and intended to provide data, level-setting and small-group discussion to inform comp-plan updates and local housing strategies. Committee staff said they will circulate Anne Fritzl's slide deck and other materials to meeting attendees after the Commerce presentation.
