The director said crews will soon begin infrastructure work for a new housing development on Republic Avenue for which HIPPS is the developer and that the city will issue press releases when traffic-control work is scheduled.
The city’s zoning and code-enforcement official reported several property actions: a winter fire-damaged house on State Street is being renovated into a multiunit rental, a long-vacant house at 33 East Leach Street has a new owner renovating it for rental, and cleanup at 121 East Main removed trash that posed a safety hazard. Newton Terrace Apartments are undergoing window and balcony-door replacements; the dumpster area is being cleaned but the parking lot repair timeline is not yet known. The official reported 13 grass violations so far this spring and reminded residents that curbside yard-waste pickup has begun; a council member clarified the limit as two cans per week.
Councilmembers asked about Key Estates mobile-home replacements and were told crews are removing old mobile homes and installing replacements, with continued cleanup expected.
