Committee approves Green Acres contract for new athletic field; schedule and communications planned

The motion to approve the contract and to engage Advocacy Solutions to develop a public communications release passed by voice vote with members saying "Aye."

Administration staff said the contract amount falls within a previously approved project budget. The committee discussed the project schedule: substantial completion in contract language was tied to punch-list sign-off, with field surfacing and curing expected to push practical student-athlete use into mid-September. The district's athletic director and administration noted the football team has one home game affected by the schedule; the district plans to host early-season events at neutral or alternate sites as needed.

Committee members directed the communications vendor to prepare a public release explaining the timeline, expected availability for sports teams and the project's place within the district's broader budget and capital program. The committee asked staff to highlight that graduation scheduling was considered when setting the start date for work.
