Commission approves $3,000 to repair library air‑conditioning units

Holmes County building official Keith Bennett told commissioners that a local HVAC contractor inspected the library units and identified a failing reversing valve and Freon leak in the 10‑ton unit plus a failing fan motor on a 5‑ton unit. The contractor estimated parts and repairs and told staff that a $3,000 budget should allow repairs to return the main units to service.
“...if we budgeted $3,000, he believes that he can get that unit fixed, possibly the 7 ton unit or 7 and a half ton unit fixed, and a little bit of money set aside …” Bennett said.
Commissioner Adam (last name not stated) moved to allocate $3,000 for contingency and repairs; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. Staff said they will follow regular procurement procedures and may bid the work if required by policy.
County staff will proceed to contract or arrange the repairs and report back to the commission if additional work or funding is required.
