Stephanie Hartung of the prosecutor’s office presented the agreement and said the only reason the contract required board signature was the absence of the appropriation language. She called the lease a "very standard agreement" with termination options and asked the board to authorize execution so the court could receive notices and continue operations.
A commissioner emphasized the practical importance: "People don't get their court notices, so we're gonna do it." The item proceeded without further debate and was included in routine approvals.
County staff characterized the contract as administrative and not requiring additional county appropriations beyond existing budget authority.
