The council voted to amend the city code chapter 82, Vehicles for Hire, to remove licensing requirements for taxi companies and to amend chapter 10, Amusement and Entertainment, to eliminate the public hearing requirement for annual renewal of special amusement permits; both measures passed by roll call vote.
Staff added a late agenda item that evening to consider an outdoor entertainment permit for the Lewiston Farmers Market concerts. The council granted the permit contingent on positive recommendations from the police, fire, code officer, health officer and land use inspector. Councilors clarified the permit covered live music on days the market operates and was not a license to sell goods; Councillor Nejean asked whether a unified farmers‑market license effort with local partners had stalled and staff said this request specifically covered entertainment rather than vendor operations.
All ordinance amendments and the farmers market permit passed by roll call votes recorded in the meeting.
