Housing authority requests capital funding for repairs, HUD grants expected to set final figures

Interim Housing Authority Director Adrianna (last name not specified in the presentation) said the authority manages 98 public-housing units and 307 Housing Choice Vouchers. The FY26 capital requests total about $1.77 million for infrastructure work, appliance replacements, roadway improvements, reroofing and electrical-meter upgrades across three housing sites. Staff also requested a replacement maintenance vehicle.
Adrianna said the housing authority’s budget relies heavily on HUD subsidy and rental income and that most capital projects will be paid from grant awards once HUD releases its FY26 capital grants. “Since the housing authority is mostly grant funded, our department must remain within the means of the grama stipulations for each fiscal year,” she said.
Commissioners asked whether the replacement vehicle would be an electric vehicle; staff replied the request is for a conventional truck suitable for maintenance staff but that EV options could be considered. Commissioner Hughes and others requested clearer reporting on capital carryovers and unexpended balances from prior years; housing staff and county managers said they will provide a workshop and detailed reconciliation for the housing board and commission.
