Madison rolls out new online registration and lists senior-center activities and summer events

Staff described a new registration system (Instabook/rec), how QR pool passes will work, and summarized senior center programs and summer events including movies in the park, day trips and partnerships.
Parks staff told the Park Board they launched new registration software and explained how residents can use the system to register for programs, buy passes and rent facilities.
Tanya and Brett Ricketts outlined the new system: residents can register at rec,rec.us/madison (Instabook/OpenGov platform), create an account and receive a QR code (rec ID) that can be printed or saved for pool and program access. Tanya said cards with QR codes will be available for residents without smartphones and that most facilities and shelters are available for online booking; Hunter Hall is not currently Instabookable while work continues.
Brett Ricketts gave a senior-center update: in April the senior center served 117 congregate meals and distributed 26 bags of produce; day trips included 10 participants to Marengo Cave and larger upcoming trips are nearly full. The center hosted a blind and low-vision support group (14 attendees) and produced about 70 May Day baskets to distribute to assisted-living facilities; Brett said the center is exploring partnership events with Carroll County senior staff and community organizations such as Girls Inc. for summer activities.
Staff said parade registration will go live and summer movie programming and vendor arrangements are in place. Keeley White, the summer intern, was cited as assisting with event preparations. No formal board action was required for the software rollout or program schedules; staff will continue to manage registrations and publicize availability.
