The Madison County Board of Supervisors approved a large-scale outdoor event permit submission, No. 848, for May 29–31 and heard information about an upcoming dirt-bike event at Graves Mountain Lodge that staff administratively approved.
County staff described the May 29–31 event as running Thursday through Saturday and said attendance "is pretty much standard of what it has been in the past. We see no issues with it." The board approved the permit submission by voice vote.
Staff also informed the board that the Graves Mountain Lodge "hair scramble" dirt-bike event was administratively approved and that emergency medical services would be on standby. On the record, staff estimated daily attendance "between, I think, 2 and 300 daily," and said most attendees are riders ranging in age from about 4 years old to adults.
The motion to approve the large-scale outdoor event permit submission No. 848 was moved and seconded on the floor and carried by voice vote.
The county did not receive public comment on either item during the meeting.
