The Jasper City Council on May 6 conducted a public hearing and ratified the street department’s abatement of an unsafe structure at 2817 Florida Avenue.
Kathy Chambers presented the item and asked whether anyone was present to speak on behalf of owner Mary Biles; no one came forward. “Is there anyone here, to represent or speak for miss Mary Biles? Okay. If not, you've heard the request from, miss Chambers,” the mayor said before the council voted.
Council members moved, seconded and recorded unanimous approval for the ratification of the abatement. The action formalized the city’s removal of an unsafe structure under its nuisance abatement process; the council did not record additional conditions or appeals in the meeting.
The abatement and council ratification complete the city’s action as presented at the public hearing; any subsequent claims or appeals would occur outside of the session if filed by the property owner.
