The Oregon House adopted House Concurrent Resolution 3, which recognizes and honors Dr. Brian Druker for his leadership and service in cancer research and treatment.
Representative Pham introduced HCR 3 and described Dr. Druker’s work developing the leukemia drug Gleevec and his leadership at Oregon Health & Science University. Pham said the resolution was personal: he told members that Dr. Druker “has been at the forefront of the global fight against cancer” and recounted receiving life‑saving care from Dr. Druker when he was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia.
Representative Graber and other members echoed support and praised Dr. Druker’s perseverance and impact on patient care. The resolution notes Dr. Druker’s role in building research capacity, fundraising for the Knight Cancer Institute, and changing treatment for some cancers.
Members observed that Dr. Druker planned to attend but had to fly out for his daughter’s graduation; the House adopted HCR 3 on the floor after members’ remarks.
