An organizer of last year’s Duval Music Crawl asked the city council for support to run a shortened, five‑Saturday version in August 2025 and urged partnership with the local Chamber and potential grant funders.
Morgan Henley, lead organizer, reviewed the 2024 event (nine Saturdays, 36 acts across four venues) and proposed a condensed 2025 schedule of five Saturdays in August with five venues and roughly 25 musical acts. Henley said the shorter schedule would reduce costs (she estimated a $12,000 budget target versus $20,000 in 2024), make promotion easier and allow organizers to concentrate crowds in better‑attended slots. Henley also proposed more family‑oriented performers and an afternoon slot at McCormick Park’s beach to capture families using the riverfront.
Henley said she would pursue alternative funding and requested the city and the Duvall Chamber of Commerce participate as partners. Council members urged that downtown businesses have “skin in the game” and suggested the Chamber help with promotion and partial underwriting. Council members also encouraged more child‑focused programming and suggested organizers pursue Port of Seattle or other grants; staff noted the Port’s grant program often expects measurable out‑of‑town visitor metrics and that grants can be used for seed funding rather than ongoing operations.
No city funding decision was made; organizers said they will pursue Chamber partnership and grant opportunities and return with a concrete budget and funding plan.
