The Greensville County Board approved termination of the lease with Job Assistance Incorporated, effective June 30, after receiving a letter from the organization—s owner and operator, Sherry Pearson, stating she will cease operations because of uncertain federal funding and other factors.
Job Assistance Incorporated used space in the county education center to provide job-search services, resume help and to organize a large regional job fair twice a year. Staff said losing the organization will be a loss to the county—s employment services but that the county will explore other avenues to continue offering the job fairs and job-search assistance.
After a motion and roll-call vote, the board approved lease termination effective June 30.
Ending: The lease will terminate June 30; staff will seek alternative arrangements to maintain job fair and employment assistance offerings to county residents.
