VDOT reports shoulder work, repeat-flood mapping and expanded contract mowing for FY26 paving prep

He asked supervisors to forward known problem locations so VDOT can escalate repairs beyond temporary measures.
Bowman said cross pipes are scheduled for replacement ahead of paving in some locations to avoid cutting new asphalt. He also said the residency is expanding contract mowing countywide to allow maintenance crews to focus on potholes, ditching and pipe replacement: "we've gone to all contract mows, because we've really tried to get back to the basics of routine maintenance." He introduced a new Emporia-area supervisor, Tyler, and noted increased contract monitoring.
During public comment, supervisors and residents raised localized drainage and standing-water issues at several addresses (e.g., 1507 Drybread/Drybrid Road, 4107 Rockbridge Road and a cul-de-sac on Abraham in Lincoln Circle). Bowman acknowledged those items and said VDOT will work from the compiled list to prioritize repairs.
