Borough officials said the Diamond Street Park playground equipment package is nearly ready for purchase and will be funded and installed as part of a larger streets-and-parks bid package.
The Borough Manager told council the playground equipment package “is gonna be in the neighborhood of about a hundred and $120,000, and that includes the excavation of it, footers, installation.” He said the playground equipment is available through COSTARS procurement, which allows the borough to purchase without a separate equipment bid.
Manager and staff said the playground installation will be coordinated with paving work so the walkway to the park steps is included as an alternate bid item in the road program. The manager also said the borough has prepared documents to advertise a pickleball court and a dog park on the Diamond Street side and that Glenwood Avenue project bids will be advertised as a separate agenda item.
Procurement details: The manager said the borough negotiated a 5% discount on the playground equipment by leveraging a cooperative procurement through a township association, and that JP (engineer) will include the playground work as an alternate in the road bid to capture liquid fuels value in paving work.
Next steps: Council will be asked to approve playground equipment purchase via COSTARS, authorize advertisement for bids on the Glenwood Avenue pickleball/ballpark project, and include alternate bid language tying walkway work to the larger paving contract. No final purchase orders or construction contracts were approved during this meeting.
