Committee unanimously recommends two Snow College trustee nominees to full Senate

A Utah Senate advice-and-consent committee on May 1 voted to recommend Gail Albrecht and Kim Moss to the full Senate as trustees for Snow College, the committee chair announced.
Albrecht and Moss each spoke to the committee about their connections to Snow College and rural Utah before the committee acted. Albrecht, who described a 34-year career in education and service on the Snow College Foundation Board, told the panel she would bring a “data-informed, student-centered, equity-driven approach” if confirmed. Moss, who grew up in Ephraim and earned an associate degree from Snow, said she would bring a “practical perspective” as a current elementary school teacher.
The nominees answered questions from senators about rural workforce needs and the college’s outreach. Albrecht praised Snow College’s “perfect fit” industry-aligned programs and a mobile lab that can be moved to rural areas to provide hands-on training. Moss described Snow’s value for students who prefer smaller campuses and said she would support expansion of career and academic programs.
Senator Reedy moved to recommend Albrecht to the full Senate; Senator Johnson moved to recommend Moss. Both motions passed by voice vote with the committee recording unanimous support. The committee did not record a roll-call tally.
The recommendations send the nominees to the full Senate for final confirmation at a later advice-and-consent meeting. The committee allowed no public comments on the Snow College nominations during the hearing.
