Council greenlights bids for Silver Road reconstruction and Venture Boulevard shared-use path

Worcester City Council authorized the administration on Monday to advertise for bids and enter into a contract for reconstruction of a portion of Silver Road and construction of a shared-use path on Venture Boulevard.
Clerk Miss Hamilton read Resolution 2025-38. Presenter Miss Borden said the project covers Silver Road between Venture Boulevard and Mechanicsburg Road and a shared-use path along Venture Boulevard from Clear Creek Park to Silver Road. Miss Borden and other speakers said the project is estimated at about $1,175,000 and that $250,000 of funding will be provided through an ODOT jobs-and-commerce grant the administration indicated has already been secured; the remainder will be funded with TIF (tax-increment financing) dollars tied to nearby development.
Council moved and adopted the resolution by roll call after a second; several council members expressed appreciation for visuals but none were presented during the meeting. The authorization permits the administration to advertise for bids and award a contract to the lowest and best bidder in accordance with procurement law.
No contractor was named and no construction schedule or final bid amounts were provided at the meeting. Council members and staff framed the work as critical to support nearby development along Silver Road and Mechanicsburg Road.
