The Common Council approved an easement and a $62,478 contract on May 6 to allow Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) to complete electrical work for a ballfield lighting project at Perkins Park. City staff said the work is time-sensitive and the easement is required to allow WPS access to park land for necessary electrical connections.
Director Ditscheit explained the easement and the WPS cost estimate arrived late and could not be scheduled on a prior agenda; council members suspended the rules and approved both items by motion and voice vote. The contract with WPS covers the utility work needed to energize the lights and complete the construction currently under way.
Council recorded the action as approved and staff will coordinate the easement execution and vendor scheduling to ensure the lighting project proceeds on the required timetable.
