The Shelton City Council adopted a resolution authorizing the city manager to execute an on‑call work order with Parametrix to start design for removing a bypass sewer pipe within Goldsboro Creek.
Brent Armstrong, a public works staff member, described the project as necessary to remove a sewer pipe and large rocks from Goldsboro Creek and said the work will involve extensive permitting because it affects waterways. "We're just, anxious to get ready because of the extensive amount of permitting that's gonna involve this in the waterways and, several stakeholders," Armstrong said.
A speaker who identified himself as Brian offered public comment in support, saying the tribe and the state "are looking forward to it" and that the work will help create "a better healthy environment for our aquaculture."
The council adopted Resolution No. 1377‑0325 by voice vote. City staff said the design work is an on‑call work order under the Parametrix contract and did not describe additional funding sources during the meeting.
The project will proceed to permitting with multiple stakeholders, city staff said, and will require coordination with state and tribal agencies because of the creek and aquatic resource impacts.
