San Juan EDC unveils new website and GIS property map, plans business workshop and revitalization update

The San Juan Economic Development Corporation on May 6 presented a redesigned EDC website and an interactive GIS map of available commercial property and said it will host workshops for local business owners.
EDC staff described the new site as a one-stop dashboard that highlights the city's strategic location and lists properties for sale or lease with photos, building and land square footage, listing price and a downloadable PDF of the broker's listing. Staff said the map carries a disclaimer that it is not an engineered design or a substitute for a survey.
The director said prospective tenants may click a 'contact city agent' link and must complete every field on a survey; email notifications of inquiries are routed to 'Miss Lauren, Martha, and myself.' The director said staff tested the contact function and received inquiry emails.
Board members praised the site as a substantial improvement over the prior online presence. One board member said the site will assist outreach at industry trade events, noting, 'Going to ICSC, I think that's a valuable tool because now you can just direct them to that kind of website.' Staff said the dashboard can also report where inquiries originate, which the EDC said would help target outreach to out-of-state investors.
On outreach, staff said the EDC will host a business-owner workshop; the meeting noted a scheduled session set for noon to 2 p.m. and board members asked staff to consider an alternate evening time to increase participation by people who work during the day. Staff reported that more than 200 flyers were hand-delivered in advance of the workshop.
The director also reported a meeting with EO Architects on a downtown revitalization project and said the EDC will provide a fuller update after the session.
No formal votes were taken on the website, map or workshop scheduling at the May 6 meeting; staff will follow up with a post-session update on the revitalization project and any scheduling changes for workshops.
