The Monongalia County Commission on May 7 accepted the resignation of Jared Moore as the commission's appointee to the Monongalia County Public Defender Corporation after county staff said the commission's appointee must be a non-attorney.
Reneta McClure told commissioners that Jared Moore, who had been serving as the commission's appointee, resigned because the commission appointee position can only be held by a non-attorney. McClure said Moore will be reappointed by the Bar Association and that the commission will have an opening to fill.
The commission moved to accept the resignation and voted by voice; commissioners said the county will leave the appointment open for a couple of weeks while the Bar Association process is completed.
No formal replacement was appointed at the meeting; McClure said the county will advertise the opening and return to the item in a future meeting.
