Council approves Murphy USA ABC license, sets public hearings for two Creekside Plaza applications and adopts back-to‑school tax holiday

Separately, the council adopted Resolution 5‑6‑25 to observe the back‑to‑school sales tax holiday established under state law, beginning at 12:01 a.m. Friday, July 18, 2025, and ending at midnight Sunday, July 20, 2025. The resolution lists covered purchases related to school needs, including clothing, school supplies and computers.
The motion to approve the Murphy USA license passed on a voice vote after the mayor opened and closed the hearing with no public comments. The council adopted the sales tax holiday resolution by voice vote as well. Council members characterized the actions as routine business of municipal licensing and tax observances.
