Tiffany Wetzky, incoming executive director of Youth Clubs of Park County, asked the board for $25,000 in special funding to support after‑school and summer programming in Powell and Cody. Wetzky said last year Youth Clubs served nearly 500 children and that the organization coordinates academic, arts and recreation programs; the club also relies on a mix of membership dues, private donations and federal grants such as the 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant.
Wetzky warned that the 21st Century grant “is currently on the chopping block,” and said the club does not yet know if renewal will be approved. She listed program hours (after school until 7 p.m., summer hours 7:45 a.m.–5:30 p.m.) and said employers rely on reliable childcare for their workforce during peak season.
Commissioners praised the organization’s role filling childcare gaps for working families and noted the county will consider the funding request as part of the June budget reviews; no appropriation was made at this meeting.
