Planning staff told the council they will ask members to approve an ordinance transferring Lot 14 (247 First Street) from the parking authority to the Jersey City Redevelopment Agency (JCRA).
Staff explained the parcel is a narrow sliver in a municipal parking lot behind a daycare center; the daycare needs permission to use the parcel as an emergency egress under state law. Planning staff said Lot 14 had not previously transferred with the larger Lot 13 due to an administrative oversight and that adding Lot 14 to the JCRA assemblage will allow the city to grant the daycare the needed licensing.
The item was presented at caucus as a standard transfer needed to correct the record and enable the daycare’s emergency egress license; no substantive objections were raised and the ordinance will proceed to the council for formal action.
