Board approves beer garden permit for Simply Smyrna celebration

Ron Alley, CEO and founder of Carve Artista Inc., said the event will include a fenced beer garden behind the venue at "the 101," with security at the fenced entrances to check IDs and issue wristbands to those eligible to buy alcohol. Alley said, "this is our fourteenth year for Simply Smyrna," and that the event has grown over time.
A board member who attended prior years said the fenced area and entrance checks have worked well in past events: "They've done a great job over the years." The applicant stated it hires Crimson Security to perform ID checks and control access.
A board member moved to approve the special-event permit and another board member seconded; the board approved the motion by voice vote. Staff told the applicants the permit can be picked up after 10 a.m. the next day. No conditions tied to the permit were stated on the record at the meeting.
