The Green River City Council approved the award of the 2025 Cape Seal project to Morgan Industries in the amount of $669,404.20 during its May 15 meeting.
Dustin Romero of the Public Works Department told the council the contract covers three work schedules and that the engineer’s estimate was about $754,000, making the low bid “fair and reasonable.” He said the project will be funded with 6P funds allocated to the work.
Councilwoman Bushman moved to award the contract and authorize the mayor to sign the agreement; Councilwoman Majors seconded. The council approved the motion by voice vote.
Why it matters: the Cape Seal process is a preventive pavement treatment that extends pavement life; the contract award moves multiple street segments into planned maintenance under the city’s 6P program.
Ending: Construction scheduling and preconstruction details will be coordinated by Public Works; staff said they will emphasize contractor responsibilities such as timely sweeping after chip‑seal operations to avoid loose gravel problems noted in past work.
