Council approves Packard Dragon tasting room license, arcade permits and Lost Arts event license

The Waupaca Common Council on May 6 approved a Class B fermented malt beverage license for Packard Dragon Company at 1070 West Fulton Street and granted arcade and amusement-device permits for the same business. The council also approved a one‑day nonprofit event license for the Lost Arts Folk School style show.

City Clerk Barbara Nowak said the Packard Dragon license is contingent on completion of required permits and inspections; the proposed arrangement includes a taproom sampling room inside the liquor store for customers to try craft beers. Amandeep Singh, agent for Packard Dragon, described the taproom as a place where customers could sample craft beers before purchasing.

Councilor Demetri Martin asked whether the amusement devices were video games or gambling devices; the applicant indicated the business would host separate machines, and that state requirements are being followed. The arcade/amusement license passed on a vote with eight ayes, one nay and one abstention. The Class B fermented malt beverage license and the Lost Arts Folk School one‑day event license each passed on roll calls of 10-0.

Michelle Drake, a board member for Lost Arts Folk School, told council members the nonprofit will offer classes in traditional crafts and was using a one‑day license to promote the program during a style show on May 10.
