The Peninsula School District board voted Tuesday to renew the district’s Special Education Parent Advisory Committee (CPAC) by approving Resolution 25‑04.
CPAC chair Brianna Trageser and vice chair Emily Ducharme told the board the committee had completed a second full year of a family education series that included seven events, a community resource fair and targeted presentations on evaluation/IEP processes, mental health intersections and inclusive programming. Trageser said the committee also worked to raise visibility for students with disabilities and to support unified sports and clubs in district schools.
“Being seen in a very public way is the first step to being valued, and that visibility matters,” Trageser said, describing an October effort to highlight students with disabilities on district social media.
CPAC members said they have invited building administrators to meetings to foster two‑way dialogue about inclusion and school practices and that they are helping plan a district‑wide “Day of Champions,” an inclusive adapted field‑day event scheduled for June 13.
Board members moved and approved the resolution by voice vote; the board formally renewed CPAC and thanked members for bringing families and staff together.
Ending: CPAC leaders asked for continued board support and the board encouraged families to volunteer for the June event and future CPAC activities.
