Board announces application process for anticipated seat to fill remainder of Turner term

The Farmington Public School District Board of Education announced May 6 that it has posted an application to fill an anticipated board vacancy created by Dr. Turner’s departure.
President Weems said Dr. Turner was first appointed in 2015, elected in 2016 and served under subsequent appointments; upon accepting the last appointment, Dr. Turner agreed to serve through June 2025. The board will select someone to serve the remainder of Dr. Turner’s term, which runs through December 2026.
Weems said interviews are expected to take place in the first two weeks of June, subject to applicant volume. The board also noted that Board member Angie Smith has filed paperwork to run for Farmington Hills City Council and that the district may use the same applicant pool to fill any additional seats that become vacant before year’s end.
The application and related language are posted on the district website and were included in local media notices; Weems encouraged interested community members with a passion for children to apply.
