Gahanna resident urges council to recognize 'natural families' in city proclamations

Kathy McCorkle of 677 Piccadilly spoke during the public-comment period at the May 5 Gahanna City Council meeting and asked council to issue a proclamation recognizing “natural families.”
McCorkle said she and “thousands of Gahanna natural family supporters” have been excluded from city proclamations and that when she previously asked for such a proclamation she was declined. She asked council to reconsider and pointed to the city’s nondiscrimination policy when urging inclusion.
President Bowers opened the hearing of visitors and called McCorkle forward; no council action followed during the meeting. The comment was entered into the record as part of the public-comment section; council did not make or adopt any proclamation regarding the subject during the meeting.
