Staff member (Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction) explained that recent legislative changes require the district to authorize the declaration at a public board meeting and described the declaration as a routine, annual step to preserve staffing flexibility. "So at this time, it's our recommendation that the board consider approving resolution 25 0 5, declaration of need for fully qualified educators for the 2526 school year," the assistant superintendent told trustees.
A trustee moved the resolution, a second was recorded, and the board chair called the vote. The motion passed without recorded opposition. The resolution remains in effect through June 30, 2026, and provides authorization for the district to seek and hire candidates under emergency permits if needed during the 2025'6 hiring cycle.
Ending: staff indicated the declaration is an annual, administrative authorization and no further immediate action was required beyond the board vote.
