Town meeting approves school budget, McKinney-Vento support and capital funds for McDuffie Annex and middle-school fire alarm

DeAndrea reported the town vote passed the district’s budget and a McKinney-Vento measure the district had sought. As part of the town’s capital plan, voters also approved funding for upgrades to the McDuffie Annex and for a new fire-alarm system at Wareham Middle School, DeAndrea said.
DeAndrea thanked residents for supporting the schools in the town meeting vote. Committee members did not take additional votes on those items during the meeting; the superintendent’s remarks conveyed the results and next steps for implementing capital work.
The district will move forward with planning and procurement once administrative work and timelines are set, DeAndrea said; details on contractors, schedules and reporting were not specified in the meeting update.
