The Lake Management District steering committee voted to recommend Sherry McCafferty to fill an open steering-committee seat and will forward the recommendation to the City Council for formal appointment.
Sherry attended the meeting and discussed her interest in serving, saying she wanted to learn more about lake costs, operations and to support neighbors on the north end who she said sometimes feel left out. Committee members said applicants typically observe a meeting before appointment; staff explained the council makes formal appointments and that recommendation by the committee is the next step.
The committee moved, seconded and voted “Aye” to recommend Sherry to City Council. Staff noted that while reappointments may not require appearance, a new appointee will be scheduled for council appointment and that staff will place that item on a future council agenda.
