Lockwood Matthews Mansion representatives said the mansion’s reopening is imminent. A representative said, “We’re reopening finally the mansion in a few weeks,” and described multiple special events: a ribbon cutting planned for May 27, a member/volunteer meet on June 7 (4–7 p.m.), an opening reception for a June 12 exhibit (5:30–7:30 p.m.), and a June 27 Mill Hill Garden Party concert at 6:30 p.m. The mansion team described restoration projects funded through gala fundraising and a matching state preservation grant, including front door restoration and restoration of a Randolph Rogers statue and base.
The mansion representative said the organization discovered an original 1867 stove during final punch‑list work and chose to leave the historic coal and ash in place; staff also described a newly outfitted archives and research area in the basement. The group said staff and volunteers will return within about one to two weeks to prepare for a summer schedule of events.
