Nicole Guevara, assistant director of Neighborhood Services, reported 82 volunteers and 775 volunteer hours were recorded during the event; 15 residences were initially selected and one additional neighbor requested help during the work. Guevara said sponsors funded kickoff activities, tools and building materials, consumables and debris disposal and that sponsors included GEICO Sugar Land (title sponsor), Pierce Built Homes, Republic Services (roll-off containers), Lowe’s (materials) and Big Frog Sugar Land (staff shirts).
Guevara said a new city tool-lending trailer was used extensively, that Fort Bend Habitat for Humanity rebuilt a porch in Mayfield Park and that the city intends to expand the program next year (April 11, 2026). Council member McCutcheon moved approval, received a second, and the motion passed by unanimous hand vote 7-0.
Staff recommended acceptance of the sponsorship funding and the related budget amendment to record the donations and associated expenses.
