Commissioners voted to authorize staff to work with the presenters and to provide up to $8,000 from the county’s capital fund to cover shortfalls. Commissioners and community members offered private donations as well; county staff will return to the board with final designs and cost details before installation.
No construction date was set; organizers said they prefer an autumn placement to align with a remembrance date.
