At a special meeting, the Community High School District 94 Board of Education voted to adopt an agreement with the West Chicago High School Support Staff Association effective July 1, 2025, and continuing through June 30, 2030.
The contract was the subject of public participation before the board's vote. Blanca Ruiz, identified on the public participation form and speaking on behalf of support staff, said, “we did finish the contract. Yay. Yes,” and later noted the unit’s ratification vote was “97% to 3%.” Ruiz thanked district negotiators and union negotiators for what she described as positive, collaborative bargaining over three years.
The board then moved to ratify the agreement as presented. The motion passed on a roll-call vote; most members recorded “aye,” and one member recorded an abstention. The board’s formal motion language was to “adopt the agreement with the West Chicago High School Support Staff Association effective 07/01/2025 and continuing in effect through 06/30/2030.”
Board members also acknowledged the work of negotiators on both sides and thanked staff and the union representatives for completing the negotiations, which a public speaker described as “honest” and “open.” No changes to the effective dates or major financial terms were announced at the meeting.
The ratification follows internal union approval, which Blanca Ruiz said was overwhelmingly in favor. The board did not provide detailed line-item budgetary figures or a public summary of specific salary or benefit changes during the meeting; those details remained as presented in the contract attachment to the motion.
The board moved on to other business after the vote, including acknowledgment of the DuPage County canvas of votes for the consolidated general election and the start of the district’s organizational meeting.
