Committee approves retroactive amendment to Rouge Valley Red Run sewer contract to allow contractor to finish work in Dearborn Heights

Elizabeth Barrera, assistant division director for the Department of Public Services, told the Committee on Public Services that Imminent Excavating LLC has substantially completed the Rouge Valley Sewage Disposal System Red Run sewer abandonment and relocation project in Dearborn Heights and that a retroactive amendment was being requested because the contractor's notice to proceed and purchase order were delayed.
Barrera explained the contractor could not begin work until the county issued a notice to proceed and also had to avoid operating on the golf course until after the season, resulting in approximately three months of lost time. "It's retroactive because, when the contract was signed and agreed upon the notice to proceed did not go out until a couple months after that," Barrera said. She said the purchase order ran through June 30, which did not match the contract dates, and the amendment aligns those dates.
The committee recorded a motion by Commissioner Palamara, supported by Commissioner Kinlock, to receive and file items 1 through 3 and approve items 1 and 5; the motion was carried. The transcript does not include a roll-call tally for the item-specific approval.
