GTMS and Smithville students honored for Jersey Shore and Delaware Valley science fair placements

Advisors from Galloway Township Middle School and Smithville presented recognitions Wednesday for students who competed at the Jersey Shore and Delaware Valley science fairs, highlighting multiple placements and special awards.
Ms. Triperson, GTMS science club advisor, said 33 students signed up for the club and 19 completed projects this year. She listed individual student winners and placements: Jamie Noyen (behavior and social sciences) placed first at Jersey Shore and advanced to Delaware Valley; Amor Izza (engineering) won first at Jersey Shore, advanced to Delaware Valley and earned multiple special awards including an Engineering Club of Philadelphia award and the Lemelson Early Inventor Prize; and several other students received first-, second- and third-place finishes or honorable mentions across categories including chemistry, computer science, botany, medicine and zoology.
"I had over 33 kids that signed up for the club and I had 19 that went all the way through," Triperson said, calling out students by name as they came forward for certificates. Smithville's advisor said three sixth-grade students earned honorable mentions at the Jersey Shore fair and were introduced to the larger competition by the district-level fair.
The board applauded the students; no board action was required.
