Votes at a glance: Cass County committee approves remonumentation grant, library appointment; several items moved to May regular meeting

The committee of the whole took several formal actions on grant contracts, board appointments and procedural items.

Approved - 2025 Remonumentation Grant contracts: Commissioners approved contracts to accept $48,109 in state grant funds for Cass County remonumentation work. County staff member Alex said the grant covers re‑monumenting 22 land corners across Mason, Wayne and Jefferson townships and requires no county match; three surveyors will perform the work and the grant is funded by a recording-fee charge. The motion to approve carried by voice vote.

- Appointment to Cass District Library Board: Commissioners approved the appointment of Tabitha Schaeffer to the Cass District Library Board for a term ending Dec. 31, 2026. The motion carried by voice vote.

Moved to the regular meeting (procedural motions) - Resolution to add April McKee as a signer on the Cass County Friend of the Court account: Judge Bealer said the information was in the packet and that adding McKee was necessary; the committee moved the resolution forward to the board’s regular meeting for final action.

- Appointment of Tammy Stewart to the Parks and Recreation Commission (term ending 01/01/2026): The nomination was moved to the next regular meeting.

- Appointment of Mary Howie to the Economic Development Corporation Brownfield Development Authority (term ending 09/30/2031): The nomination was moved to the next regular meeting.

- Budget adjustments: Staff explained that several budget adjustments reflect grant awards and previously approved items that lacked concurrent budget updates; commissioners moved the budget adjustments to the May regular meeting.

Ending: Most actions were approved by voice vote or moved forward for formal consideration at the board’s regular May meeting. Several items will return to the full board for final votes.
