Downtown San Angelo Inc. presented its biannual report to the City Council on May 6, highlighting private reinvestment, new businesses, marketing efforts and upcoming events intended to boost downtown activity.
Monica Ramos, executive director of Downtown San Angelo Inc., told the council that private reinvestment totaled $3,569,500 so far in 2025 and $15,024,110 for 2024. The organization reported 11 new businesses since the last update and a variety of completed facades and rehabilitation projects in the Main Street district.
Ramos outlined marketing and events including Brews, Use and Barbecue (30 teams, 40 vendors), the Shepherd / Sheep Spectacular public art program (163 sponsored sheep), and the Concho Christmas and Riverfest collaborations. She also noted planned banners, wayfinding, and the historic Downtown Magazine. Ramos said the organization is preparing Spanish‑language outreach materials and simplified TIERS application guides to increase small‑property participation in incentive programs.
Council members and presenters discussed several downtown initiatives: the Roosevelt Hotel rehabilitation, the Bosque on the Concho management changes and food‑truck activity, and an upcoming city streetscape project scheduled to begin in late June running from Beauregard Avenue north to the transportation/bus station. Brian Groves, communications director, separately announced a new ADA‑compliant city website launching next week.
Ramos highlighted rehabilitation projects that completed improvements under the TIERS program and noted the organization’s role in volunteer coordination, event logistics and arts promotion. She asked the public to consider Downtown San Angelo during the city’s San Angelo Gives fundraiser.
Ending: The council received the report as information; staff and Downtown San Angelo Inc. will coordinate streetscape timing and potential archway fundraising and continue reporting on reinvestment, TIERS participation and events.
