On April 16 the Escambia County Board of Adjustment approved a conditional use request allowing a restaurant with drive‑through service at a Sorrento Road property (case CU2025-04), voting 5-0 to accept staff recommendations and condition approval on development review and a development order.
Christina Smith, urban planner, presented maps, aerial photos and the staff analysis. Staff described the parcel as commercially designated abutting LDR zoning and said the LDC requires conditional use approval because the parcel boundary of any restaurant with drive‑through service must be at least 200 feet from LDR or MDR zoning unless separated by a 50‑foot or wider street right‑of‑way. Smith recommended approval provided DRC review is completed and a development order issued.
Beck Reed, the applicant’s agent, and engineer Patrick Bennett were present to answer technical questions. No members of the public testified on this case. Board member Randy moved to accept the staff recommendation and approve; Susan seconded and the board voted unanimously, 5-0. The approval is conditional on completion of development review and permits.
