TDC backs $2 million now and a reserve increase to help fund Pensacola Beach renourishment

The Escambia County Tourist Development Council on April 15 agreed to provide $2,000,000 toward a planned Pensacola Beach renourishment project and to change its reserve policy to set aside $1,000,000 annually to support future nourishment financing.
Santa Rosa Island Authority (SRIA) executive director Mike Burns told the council the renourishment campaign would place roughly 1,800,000 cubic yards of compatible sand along about 8.1 miles of Pensacola Beach during the winter 2025–2026 nourishment window. "Beach renourishment is gonna begin on November 2025... we hope to put 1,800,000 cubic yards of sand on Pensacola Beach to protect the beach, to protect the infrastructure, to protect the homes," Burns said.
