County staff presented a draft application and a housing assistance plan that proposes $1,000,000 for housing rehabilitation or demolition/replacement, $50,000 for temporary relocation assistance, $175,000 for administration and a suggested $50,000 local leverage for scoring purposes. Staff said the housing category was the most viable option in the current funding cycle because neighborhood or commercial revitalization projects were not feasible in the current compressed schedule.
Antonio, the county planning/grants staffer, told the board that the public hearing and the Fair Housing workshop are required parts of the application process and that the county is eligible only for projects in the unincorporated areas. No members of the public spoke for or against the application during the advertised public hearing. The board approved submission of the draft CDBG application and later adopted the CDBG Housing Assistance Plan and related procedures.
