The Broward County Commission on Tuesday approved a new marine terminal lease and operating agreement with Everglades Company Terminal Inc. for a 39.18‑acre terminal in the Southport area of Port Everglades and approved an amendment to an existing agreement with Florida International Terminal LLC to revise operator cargo responsibilities.
Item 42, the second of two required public hearings on the proposed Everglades Company Terminal lease, was opened and closed after one public speaker was ruled out of order. The board approved the marine terminal lease and operating agreement with no recorded opposition.
Item 43, the third amendment to the marine terminal lease and operating agreement with Florida International Terminal LLC, was similarly approved. County staff described the amendment as a clarification and redefinition of terminal operator cargo and other contract provisions; no members of the public addressed item 43.
Both votes were unanimous. County staff said the actions finalize the lease and operating terms required to support cargo operations at the two Port Everglades terminals and follow local procurement and public‑hearing procedures for port property agreements.
