The business owner requested multiple outdoor dates and had previously held acoustic events without recorded complaints. Board members said recurring, regular outdoor amplified entertainment is a land-use and site-plan matter and that applicants for repetitive events should pursue planning-board review and site-plan modification if they plan to make the events part of their regular business.
Because the applicant had previously been advised to seek site-plan modification and had not yet done so, several board members declined to approve a larger set of dates. One Select Board member proposed allowing two dates now, with the caveat that continued or amplified events would require planning-board review; another member said the board could revoke future events if the first event generated complaints or was not run as represented.
The motion to approve May 20 and July 15 for acoustic-only fundraisers passed 3-2. The board directed staff to prepare a special-event license that lists the two approved dates and the acoustic-music condition.
