The Village of Cross Plains Board approved a one-time $1,000 contribution to a proposed $2,000 photography and videography package to promote Trout Days and other community events.
Village staff presented a proposal from local resident Derek Look (Look Studios) for photography, drone footage and short-form video content covering event elements such as the duck race, 5K, Lions Legacy Pavilion groundbreaking and train rides. The Chamber of Commerce pledged $500 and the Lions Club $500 toward the $2,000 package; staff recommended the village cover the remaining $1,000 from the community development support services account.
Trustees asked how the material would be used and who else had been solicited. Staff said the footage would be used on village and Chamber websites and social media and for event promotion; the Chamber plans to use the material on its new website. Trustees raised concerns that the village had not solicited competing bids and urged fairness if public funds are being used; staff replied they would pursue competitive procurement for larger projects and that this opportunity arose through a local resident and the Chamber.
The board took a roll-call vote: Trustee Bratton voted No; Trustee Borchard Yes; Trustee Brosious Yes; Trustee Polmankowski No; Trustee Bartone Yes; Trustee Catiliter Yes. The motion passed.
