Board updates Sutterditch culvert schedule; emergency arch pipe collapsed and removed

The Borden County Drainage Board reported on May 5 that a contract is signed for the Sutterditch culvert project and that a pre-construction meeting with the contractor will be scheduled soon, while separately confirming an emergency arch pipe that collapsed in a recent storm has been removed.
"I signed the contract. Mr. Miller from Banning is gonna set up a pre construction meeting and I should know sometime in the next week or so when they plan on starting the work," a board representative said, reporting the Sutterditch contract has been executed and that a start date will be set after the pre-construction meeting.
Board members noted the contract was signed in mid-May and that the contractor will provide a projected construction outline to help notify affected residents. The item required no vote; the board recorded the update and moved on to other business.
Separately, the board discussed an emergency ditch arch pipe that had been discussed at prior meetings and which collapsed during the most recent major rainfall. "Well, it didn't make it through the last big rain we had. It collapsed. So, we hired, Segal, design... The same guy doing the lehi, he was there. He said he'd go take it out, and we got it out and hauled out of there, and it's wide open now," the presenter said, reporting the collapsed pipe was removed and the channel cleared.
Board members said residents on that side of the ditch will be informed when work dates are confirmed, and staff reiterated they will communicate start dates once the contractor provides them.
